Biography
Dr. W.F. Simmonds is a Physician in Occupational Medicine with over three decades of experience providing evidence-based occupational health advisory services, workplace health consultation, disability assessment, and occupational medicine support for employers, organizations, and healthcare institutions.
Dr. Simmonds graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1985
In 1989, he began his career in Occupational Medicine as an Occupational Health Physician at the General Motors Scarborough Van Plant, developing extensive experience in workplace health management and occupational injury assessment.
In 1998, Dr. Simmonds obtained certification as an Independent Medical Examiner through the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners. He subsequently completed a Master’s Degree in occupational health medicine at McGill University in 2000, further advancing his expertise in occupational disease, workplace exposures, disability management, and occupational health consultation.
Dr. Simmonds has served as a Physician in Occupational Health at several leading healthcare institutions, including Michael Garron Hospital since 1993, Sinai Health (Bridgepoint Health Division) since 1996, Oak Valley Health since 2010, and Mackenzie Health since 2021.
Throughout his career, Dr. Simmonds has maintained a focused occupational medicine practice emphasizing evidence-based assessment, practical workplace solutions, communicable disease management, return-to-work advisory services, and objective occupational health consultation for employers, organizations, and case management teams.
In May 2026, Dr. Simmonds presented at the Ontario Medical Association Occupational Medicine Conference on Communicable Disease in Healthcare.
